Anything goes UOL

I wonder if no one has ever tried to recover the UOL Vale Tudo forum database? I saw on the Wayback Machine that there were some really old posts there. Any user who’s good at Python can generate a massive .SQL file and migrate everything to some framework.

I saw there was a user who even saved all the avatars. The task of creating a forum based on the UOL forum should be very simple.

I already tried accessing that forumdb that they released in a thread over on IGN, but every time I try, the link is down. Probably because the user who made it can’t afford the infrastructure. Because let’s be honest, there are lots of users, lots of posts, and also lots of garbage, right.

But I don’t know. I don’t know how to explain it, but since the end of UOL Vale Tudo, I just can’t get as attached to forums anymore. That place was on another level. There weren’t as many annoying mods as there are today. There weren’t so many rules and the users there were real users. Nowadays it’s just liferulers and attention whores. There are no more threads about pimples, Roaccutane, how to stop shaking when you’re in front of your crush…

These days there are only “little party on the weekend” threads and that’s become very normal. Just look at how the vale-tudo forums are on the weekend. Completely empty.

Then during the week they’re full of incel stuff.

I can’t take it anymore.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

The only thing I miss about UOL

Was being able to curse at users

Nothing happened because of it

You can’t replicate VT UOL because the userbase has grown. Back then most people were teenagers or had just become adults, and forums in general no longer attract younger people; they’re on other platforms now.

And that’s without considering the part that got scattered after so many migrations…

The worst part is that’s true. I’m in a gamers group on Discord, but they don’t even dream of wanting to go to forums. They’re all from the new generation. They think this is really outdated. It’s a shame

It’s already dead and buried, folks. Now we just have to do better. No need for 2000s-style posts with 8-bit avatars. The essence of vt is in the userbase.
